The Milli Majlis Science and Education Committee held a videoconferenced meeting on 18 December. The committee chairman Bakhtiyar Aliyev tabled the only item on the agenda, it being a set of third-reading amendments to the Police Law, the Law on the Prevention of Neglect and Violation of the Rights of Minors, and the General Education Law.

Bakhtiyar Aliyev mentioned the extensive discussion of the Bill at the first and second readings, and said that the plena had backed the matter in both readings whereafter the document had been presented at a committee meeting in the third reading.

Several amendments to the existing documents are proposed to align those with the applicable standards of the Criminal Code in order to defend minors’ rights.

The committee members found the amendments acceptable and recommended that the Bill should be tabled for the third reading at a plenary sitting of the Milli Majlis.

The participants of the online meeting were the deputy chairman of the committee Musa Gasimli and the committee members Ulviya Aghayeva, Tamam Jafarli, Etibar Aliyev, Kamila Aliyeva, Rafael Huseynov, Afat Hasanova, Mushfig Mammadli, Aghiya Nakhchivanli and Fatma Yildirim.
