A Meeting at Milli Majlis

The leader of the Milli Majlis Azerbaijan-Djibouti Inter-Parliamentary Relations Working Group Aliabbas Salahzade had a meeting on 21 December with the visiting head of the Djibouti-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group Ilaya Ismael Guedi.

As he welcomed the guest, Mr Salahzade let her know of Azerbaijan’s interest in a comprehensive advancement of the relations with Djibouti. He underscored the role of the inter-parliamentary relations in deepening the bilateral contacts, touched upon the importance of continuing the mutually beneficial co-operation upon international platforms and highlighted Djibouti’s support to our country at the time of the 44 days’ Patriotic War.

Ilaya Ismael Guedi mentioned that she had visited our country for the international conference ‘Decolonisation Dialogues: the Legacy, the Challenges and the Progress’ that the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement had organised. Mrs Guedi thanked for the heartfelt welcome. Djibouti attaches a special significance to furthering the relations with Azerbaijan, according to Mrs Guedi who went further to underline the role of reciprocal visits and of meetings in the progress of the inter-parliamentary links. Then, she gave an outline of Djibouti and its parliament.

Azerbaijani MP Sabina Khasayeva who was taking part in the meeting talked about the prospects and progress of the inter-state relations.

There was then an exchange of opinions about gender issues, women’s involvement in social and political life, and other topics of interest to both sides.

After the meeting, the guest was shown around the Milli Majlis premises and the plenary hall.
