A Meeting at Milli Majlis

The chairman of the International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee of the Milli Majlis Samad Seyidov had a meeting on 21 December with the visiting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation Alexander Grushko.

Samad Seyidov said at the meeting that there are close ties between Azerbaijan and Russia – the ties based on mutual respect, sporting a history traceable over many centuries and rooted in the traditional friendly relations between our countries. The strategic partnership of our countries has attained a new level as guided by the presidents of both countries. The Azerbaijani-Russian inter-parliamentary relations are advancing as dynamically with the inter-parliamentary friendship groups playing a special role in this area.

Having thanked for the warm reception, the RF Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Grushko underlined Russia’s interest in furthering the relations with Azerbaijan. He also talked about the importance of the bilateral Declaration of Allied Interaction, and praised the bilateral co-operation in international organisations. Besides, the guest stressed the necessity of fulfilling all the provisions of the Trilateral Statement of November 2020 and of having a peace treaty signed by Azerbaijan and Armenia the soonest. Further, Mr Grushko spoke of the importance of a continued expansion of the inter-parliamentary relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.

There was also an exchange of opinions about other matters of shared interest as the conversation continued.

The officials who attended the meeting included the Ambassador of Russian Federation to Azerbaijan Mikhail Yevdokimov.
