Iraqi Parliamentary Delegation at Milli Majlis
There was a meeting at the Milli Majlis on 5 April with the visiting delegation led by Sherko Muhammad Saleh Ahmad Kadir Mir Vais, chairman of the Iraqi Parliament’s Committee of International Relations.
First Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Ali Huseynli who greeted the guests touched on the historical friendship between our countries and said that the bilateral interaction had been progressing in various areas with success over the past years. Azerbaijan had always backed the territorial integrity of Iraq whilst Iraq had taken stances supporting Azerbaijan’s standpoints in international organisations, Mr Huseynli added.
The conversation turned to the interparliamentary contacts as well; it was said that the efforts made by the two interparliamentary friendship groups served the cause of furthering the progress of the Azerbaijani-Iraqi relations.
Sherko Muhammad Saleh Ahmad Kadir Mir Vais voiced his appreciation of the warm welcome before thanking the Azerbaijani side for the assistance extended to his country with several matters including counter-terrorism and the countering of the coronavirus. The visitor who proceeded to talk about the work of the Iraqi Parliament mentioned the stability maintained in Iraq to a considerable extent due to the laws and resolutions passed by the national parliament.
Chair of the Milli Majlis Culture Committee Ganira Pashayeva, a member of the Milli Majlis Working Group for the Interparliamentary Contacts with Iraq Rashad Mahmudov, Chairman of the Iraqi Parliament’s Human Rights Committee Arshed Reshad Fath Allah al-Salihi, the Iraqi MP Nisrin Fadil and the other participants of the meeting shared their views on the growth prospects of the bilateral relations then.
Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Fazail Ibrahimli, Leader of the Milli Majlis Working Group for the Interparliamentary Contacts with Iraq Ilham Mammadov, the same Groups’ other member Javanshir Pashazade, Chief of the Milli Majlis Staff Safa Mirzayev, both countries’ Charges d’Affaires a.i. Nasir Mammadov and Maki Ressan Al-Mamori and other officials attended the meeting as well.
