Going to PACE Winter Session

The chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee for International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations and the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the PACE Samad Seyidov as well as the delegation members Rafael Huseynov, Erkin Gadirli, Nigyar Arpadarai, Kamal Jafarov and Sevil Mikayilova are leaving for Strasbourg, France on 20 January for the winter session of the Assembly.

During the session which will last from the 22nd to the 26th of January, its participants will hear reports by the PACE Bureau and Standing Committee as well as by the CE Commissioner for Human Rights. Also, certain organisational matters will be reviewed; they will be discussing the preliminary results of the parliamentary election in Serbia, the situation in the Near East and Europe, systematic tortures, inhuman treatment and humiliation in European prisons, and provision of the freedom of mass media and journalists’ safety in the PACE Member States. It is intended to pass several related decisions.

This trip to Strasbourg will end on 27 January.

The MPs are elected as based on the majority electoral system by free, private and confidential vote reliant on the general, equitable and immediate suffrage.
