Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Delegations of Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has had meetings with the delegations of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT) and Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States which had arrived in Azerbaijan to monitor the presidential election.
Sahiba Gafarova referred to the election as a historic event for the people of Azerbaijan. It is gratifying, she continued, that the process had been observed by the fraternal and friendly Turkish MPs. At this ballot, our people had voted for a continued progress of the Azerbaijani State which had restored its territorial wholeness and sovereignty entirely. For the first time an election of any sort had been conducted in all the sovereign Azerbaijani territories including those liberated from occupation. This election could also be called the Victory Elections therefore, Speaker Gafarova continued.
Mrs Gafarova emphasised at both meetings that, as the viewpoints of all the monitors attest, too, the presidential election had gone democratically, transparently and in accordance with the advanced norms and principles. Every provision had been made for the citizens to express their will; our people had demonstrated intense activity.
The delegation members congratulated the Azerbaijani side on the successful completion of the election and underlined its great significance for Azerbaijan’s growth.
According to the Head of the monitoring mission of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and Head of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Şamil Ayrım, the presidential elections held in the brotherly Azerbaijan had for the first time been conducted across the whole territory of the country. This is a remarkable event for Türkiye and the Turkic World. The successes of Azerbaijan as a brotherly country gladden Türkiye as well as they do the whole Turkic World, Mr Ayrım added.
Şamil Ayrım said then that together with the colleagues he had watched the proceedings at many stations and that the monitoring findings let one say that the election had been conducted very transparently. The citizens of Azerbaijan had been voting very actively; every favourable arrangement had been in place to make certain that each person voted for the candidate he or she backed.
The Head of the TURKPA international monitoring mission and Member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Osman Mesten, in turn, said that the members of his delegation had watched the election in Shusha and Khankendi, which is of utmost historic import. Everything went in accordance with law and had been organised transparently at all the stations they had covered, Mr Mesten pointed out.
