CIS IPA Commissions to Meet in St Petersburg

Members of the Milli Majlis will arrive in St Petersburg, Russian Federation on 16 April for the meetings of the commissions of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

The chairman of the parliamentary Science and Education Committee Bakhtiyar Aliyev will take part in the meeting of the CIS IPA Science and Education Commission whereas MP Rasim Musabeyov is joining the meeting of the Political Affairs and International Co-operation Commission. MP Mikhail Zabelin will be taking part in the gathering of the Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology Commission.

The Science and Education Commission will review the model Bills ‘On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activities’ and ‘On Artificial Intelligence Technologies’, draft amendments to the model Education Code for the CIS Member States and other issues.

At the meeting of the Political Affairs and International Co-operation Commission there will be a discussion concerning the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Convention and operations of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Also, they will be discussing the co-operation with the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism and anti-terrorism as such, the draft Regulations on the Status of Observer in the IPA CIS, the outcomes of the measures taken by inter-parliamentary organisations and co-ordinating the activities of the CIS Member States’ parliamentary delegations contributing to the work done by such organisations, and other matters. The Deputy Chairman of the Commission Rasim Musabeyov will present a report on the results of the 14th Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.

The Agrarian Policy, Natural Resources and Ecology Commission will look at the model Bills ‘On Protection of Soil’, ‘On Environmental Monitoring’, ‘On the Management of Land Resources’ and ‘On Vine-Growing and Wine-Making’ as well as the draft model Land Code for the CIS Member States.

The trip to St Petersburg will end on 19 April.
