A Memorandum of Co-operation has been signed between the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Congress of New Caledonia.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova commented at the signing ceremony to the effect that the document matters for the forming of a legal foundation for promoting the growth of our inter-parliamentary ties and in that it would set frameworks for our co-operation.

It should be mentioned that several momentous matters are covered by the Memorandum. The document registers the shared intention of developing inter-parliamentary co-operation in order to strengthen the friendly ties between the peoples of the Republic of Azerbaijan and New Caledonia. It is proposed with this in mind to foster constant connexions between our legislative assemblies’ commissions, committees and divisions as well as to put on reciprocal parliamentary delegation visits to study parliamentary and international activities and to exchange the relevant experience.

The document envisages the formation of an appropriate MP group to further the growth of the bilateral co-operation as well as the all-out assistance to the work that such a group will be doing. Besides, vigorous efforts are intended to study, review, develop and implement various areas of co-operation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and New Caledonia in the international parliamentary arena. In addition, the parties agreed to establish permanent ties between the Staff of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Bureau of the Congress of New Caledonia with a view to exchanging experience that could make a positive contribution to the effective work of the legislative bodies.
