Italian Delegation Calls at Milli Majlis
Members of the Milli Majlis Committee for International Relations and Interparliamentary Contacts and of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Working Group for interparliamentary connections with Italy welcomed on 12 April the visiting delegation led by Chairman of the Italian Senate’s Standing Commission for External Affairs and Emigration Vito Petrocelli.
Leader of the Milli Majlis Working Group for interparliamentary connections with Italy Azer Karimli spoke of the friendship and co-operation between our countries and of the outstanding role that reciprocal visits of the two sides’ government officials and the documents signed to date played in the progress of the bilateral partnership.
He also brought up the victory that Azerbaijan had secured in the 44-day Patriotic War, adding then that restoring the de-occupied provinces of the country was our country’s topmost priority for the present time. Italy is involved in this process, too, Mr Karimli remarked.
Then, the leader of the Italian delegation and Chairman of the Italian Senate’s Standing Commission for External Affairs and Emigration Vito Petrocelli said that that was his fourth visit to Azerbaijan as an Italian MP. The goal of the current visit was to expand the bipartite co-operation, Mr Petrocelli added.
The mayor of the Italian town of Matera Domenico Bennardi stressed during the conversation the presence of extensive co-operation opportunities in various areas including tourism, trade, arts, agriculture and culture. Chairman of Matera’s town council Antonio Materdomini said, in turn, that the Italian and Azerbaijani side were setting foot on a new path of co-operation and shared his confidence of the future positive advancement of the links between Matera and Baku.
The bilateral relations’ progress, the existing growth prospects and co-operation opportunities were underscored by Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Committee for International Relations and Interparliamentary Contacts Sevinj Fataliyeva, the Committee members and the members of the Milli Majlis Working Group for interparliamentary connections with Italy Sevinj Mikayilova and Ramin Mammadov.
