The delegation led by Speaker of the Parliament of Latvia Daiga Mieriņa, currently visiting in Azerbaijan, arrived at the Alley of Honour on 20 February to pay their deepest respects to the memory of our people’s National Leader, architect and builder of the modern Azerbaijani State Heydar Aliyev. A wreath was put at his tombstone.

Then they commemorated the Great Leader’s spouse, an outstanding ophthalmology researcher Zarifa Aliyeva whose gravestone was adorned with fresh flowers.

Also, the delegation went over to the Martyrs’ Lane to honour the memories of the heroic sons of the Motherland who had laid their lives down in the struggle for her freedom and sovereignty. Fresh flowers were put on their tombstones. And a wreath was installed in front of the Eternal Flame Memorial.

As they were marvelling at the panorama of Azerbaijan’s capital city then, the guests listened to the narrative about the story of the Martyrs’ Lane and the construction and amenity work going on in Baku.

The delegation were accompanied by MP Kamran Bayramov who heads the Azerbaijan-Latvia inter-parliamentary relations working group and other officials.
