Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has had a meeting with Zorlu Töre, Speaker of the Mejlis of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus who had arrived in our country to take part in the 13^th Plenary Meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TürkPA).

They voiced the shared contentment with the high organisational standards set by the Plenary Meeting and underscored the importance of the TürkPA as a platform for a continued expansion and enrichment of the co-operation amongst our legislatures in new directions. Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova said that every necessary step would be taken in the forthcoming period of Azerbaijani chairmanship of the Organisation to ensure on-going strengthening of our inter-parliamentary connexions.

Besides, the Days of Culture and the Presentation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, held in Baku in October 2023, were recalled with pleasure, and so were the visit to Azerbaijan of President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar and his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev.

Then, there was an exchange of opinions about the ties between the legislative assemblies. Thanking for the formation of a working group for inter-parliamentary relations between Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the Milli Majlis in April this year, Zorlu Töre remarked that that step of Azerbaijan was met with deep gratitude in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The two Speakers also exchanged views upon expanding the contacts between the friendship groups and MPs, and upon arranging reciprocal visits.
