Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting with President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Zinaida Greceanîi on 15 April.

Greeting the Moldovan colleague, Mrs Gafarova said that their meeting was a good opportunity to talk over the prospects for mutually beneficial bilateral co-operation. The interaction between the two states in the CIS IA promotes the advance of the bonds between the legislatures of Azerbaijan and Moldova; the advance is also supported by the work done by the friendship groups of the two parliaments, Mrs Gafarova continued.

The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict was history now, she said. Azerbaijan freed its lands from occupation as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War and entered the stage of building and reconstruction. And yet, Armenia avoids giving up the minefield maps though the war is over, with Azerbaijan intend on seeing the international community put pressure on Armenia in this matter.

Mrs Greceanîi witnessed her satisfaction with the meeting with the Azerbaijani colleague, saying then that Moldova was interested in co-operating with Azerbaijan. The relevant existing opportunities should be appraised therefore, in the opinion of Mrs Greceanîi.

There was an exchange of views on bilateral interparliamentary relations, the growth prospects of the economic and trading links and other matters of shared interest at the meeting as well.
