Speaker of Tongan Legislative Assembly Arrives in Azerbaijan

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of the Kingdom of Tonga Lord Fatafehi Kinikinilau Fakafānua arrived in our country on 14 November on a visit intended for the participation of the Parliamentary Meeting that the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic are co-organising on the sidelines of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

Members of the Milli Majlis – Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee of Youth and Sports Shahin Ismayilov and Mirjalil Gasimov – as well as other officials welcomed the guest at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

The Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan - The state legislative power branch organ is a unicameral parliament that has 125 MPs. The MPs are elected as based on the majority electoral system by free, private and confidential vote reliant on the general, equitable and immediate suffrage. The tenure of a Milli Majlis convocation is 5 years.
