Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Speaker of Chamber of Representatives of Tajikistan’s Majlisi Oli
On 16 November, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with a delegation headed by the Speaker of the Chamber of Representatives of the Parliament of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda who is visiting in Azerbaijan to participate in the Parliamentary Meeting the Azerbaijani Parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Union had arranged as part of the COP29 in Baku.
Welcoming the guest, Speaker Gafarova thanked him for his participation in this important event held in Azerbaijan.
The importance of global collaboration in addressing climate change issues was emphasised at the meeting; there was an exchange of views on the activities carried out by both Azerbaijan and Tajikistan to that end. The significant role of parliaments in this field was highlighted as well.
Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda offered his congratulations on the high organisational level of the COP29 before underscoring the significance of both the COP29 and the Parliamentary Meeting.
They then talked about the dynamic development of the relations between our countries in various areas. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova mentioned the significant role of reciprocal visits by Heads of State and the meetings held in the deepening of the relations between our countries and peoples.
Attention was also given to the importance of parliamentary relations in strengthening intergovernmental ties. Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova recalled with satisfaction her visits to Tajikistan and spoke about the visits of Tajikistan's officials to Azerbaijan, emphasising that these trips are a testament to the high level of relations and mutual support.
It was also said that co-operation within the framework of parliamentary friendship groups and mutual visits of MPs have a benevolent impact on the dynamics of relations between the two countries.
