As reported, the delegation of the Milli Majlis led by Speaker Sahiba Gafarova are in Türkiye on an official visit.

During the visit, the members of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye Inter-Parliamentary Relations Working Group have met with the members of the Friendship Group on Azerbaijan of the Great National Assembly of Türkiye.

The head of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group Şamil Ayrım welcomed the Azerbaijani delegation and mentioned the gratifyingly successful development of relations between our friendly and brotherly countries in all the areas encompassed. He recalled that Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova upon re-election to her position had paid her first official visit to Türkiye in continuation of a wonderful tradition that exists between our countries and is upheld at the parliamentary level as well. Şamil Ayrım expressed confidence that this visit by the Milli Majlis Speaker would also contribute to the further development of our relations.

Chairman of the Milli Majlis Health Committee and Leader of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye Inter-Parliamentary Relations Working Group Ahliman Amiraslanov stated during the meeting that, as President Ilham Aliyev had pointed out, the relations between our countries have no parallels in the world and are based on the words of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev: "One nation, two states." He emphasised that today Azerbaijan and Türkiye enjoy successful partnerships in all areas, and the bonds between us grow stronger with each passing day.

It was particularly remarked during the conversation that the legislatures of the two brotherly and friendly countries make a unique contribution to deepening the ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, with fruitful cooperation taking place both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of international parliamentary organisations. Contacts between friendship groups enhance closer interaction between legislative bodies; the importance of mutual visits and regular engagement was highlighted by the participants of the gathering.

The meeting was attended by members of the Working Group for Inter-parliamentary Relations with Türkiye, including Eldar Guliyev, Musa Guliyev, Elshan Musayev, Agalar Valiyev, Heydar Asadov and Elnara Akimova, as well as members of the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, including Orhan Erdem, Derya Ayaydın, Veysal Tipioğlu, Cüneyt Yüksel, Uğur Bayraktutan, Yusuf Beyazit, Vedat Bilgin, Cantürk Alagöz and Ahmet Erbaş.
