At the IPA CIS Events

As reported earlier, the delegation led by Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova visited St Petersburg for the spring session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. Delegation members took part in the events that were arranged and conducted within the frameworks of that session.

Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova participated in the meeting of the IPA CIS held on 15 April to look at the documents lined up for submission at the 52nd plenary sitting and to consider also a number of working aspects of the organisation.

The Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation also joined the 52nd plenary sitting of the Interparliamentary Assembly where the documents drawn up by the latter were tabled for discussion.

Besides, the IPA permanent commissions held their meetings on the margins of the spring session.

The member of the Milli Majlis Arzu Naghiyev took part in the meetings of the Joint Commission at the IPA CIS for the Harmonisation of the National Laws Related to Security, Countering Emerging Threats and Challenges, and the Permanent Commission on Defence and Security Issues. MP Emin Hajiyev attended the meeting of the Permanent Commission on Political Issues and International Cooperation and joined the session on democratic issues in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. MP Rufat Guliyev attended the meeting of the Permanent Commission on Economy Finance where he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Commission.

The Milli Majlis members Nizami Safarov, Arzu Naghiyev and Amina Agazade gave their commentaries about the issues that were talked over in the thematic sections of the IPA CIS international conference on countering terrorism and extremism.

The Chief of Staff of the Milli Majlis Safa Mirzayev and the Milli Majlis Permanent Representative to the IPA CIS/Deputy Secretary General of the IPA CIS Aydin Jafarov took part in those events as well.

The Milli Majlis delegation’s visit to St Petersburg ended on 16 April.
