Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Yuriy Gusev on 24 December.

They participants exchanged views on the relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. They emphasised that our countries are reliable partners, with their relations built upon a solid foundation. Azerbaijan and Ukraine support each other on issues of territorial integrity and sovereignty, they said.

During the discussion, the importance of humanitarian co-operation was highlight as well. It was said that the peoples of Azerbaijan and Ukraine share many common values, which values bring the two nations closer together.

Ambassador Yuriy Gusev conveyed congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan on his birthday before underscoring the exceptional role of the Head of the Azerbaijani State in the development of the relations between our countries.

The diplomat also congratulated Sahiba Gafarova on the successful parliamentary elections and her re-election as Speaker of the Milli Majlis. It was said that representatives of the Parliament of Ukraine had monitored the election.

Opinions were voiced as to the high organisational standards of the COP29 held in Azerbaijan.

The current level of the inter-parliamentary connexions was brought up with contentment. Ways to develop them further were discussed, too.
