Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Speaker of National Assembly of Kingdom of Bhutan

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has held a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Bhutan Lungten Dorji, currently in our country for the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
It was remarked as their conversation went on that that was the first visit to our country being paid by Head of Parliament of the Kingdom of Bhutan; it was said confidently that the visit would be instrumental in broadening our inter-legislature relations.
Furthermore, our peoples’ advocacy of peaceful ideas and the outstanding essentiality of the global peace and stability initiatives were underscored during the meeting.
The two Speakers also stressed the availability of opportunities to continue expanding the links between our countries.
There was an expression of readiness for more active co-operation within international organisations, including the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network established on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and discussions were held in this regard.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan Lungten Dorji said that his visit had left an unforgettable impression on him. He shared his positive experiences with Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, and also emphasised that he viewed the 15th plenary session as an extremely successful one.
The Head of the Assembly voiced his emphatic intention to call a meeting with his Government and table his proposals for broadening the connexions with Azerbaijan upon his return to his home country.
It was remarked as the conversation went on that the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly had been arranged successfully and that the organisation had passed important decisions under the Azerbaijani chairmanship – the decisions targeting its institutional development.
Then, the two Heads of Parliament exchanged thoughts about other matters of shared interest, including about a continued expansion of the bilateral inter-parliamentary connexions.
