Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Deputy Speaker of House of Representatives of Thailand

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has had a meeting with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Thailand Paradorn Prissananantakul who is in our country to join the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
It was remarked at the meeting that the APA plenary session had been arranged to high standards and that the Organisation itself was a significant international forum for the discussion of many remarkable issues. Also, they underscored the tremendous role of such events in strengthening the dialogue and broadening the co-operation amongst the Member States.
The discussion broached the good relations between Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Thailand as well as the various opportunities for developing co-operation. It was suggested to that end that interaction between the parliaments could have a significant and positive impact on the further strengthening of ties between the two states.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives shared the positive impressions of his visit to Azerbaijan. He extended his congratulations on the successful organisation of the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
The meeting addressed issues of co-operation within international parliamentary organisations. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova informed the guest about the activities and initiatives of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, established on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan.
It was noted that, under Azerbaijan's chairmanship, significant work has been done to establish the Parliamentary Network and strengthen its institutional foundations as an important international co-operation platform. At the same time, steps are being taken to expand the Parliamentary Network's collaboration with other international parliamentary organisations.
