Milli Majlis Speaker Meets with President of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting on 12 March with the visiting delegation headed by President of the Republic of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova said she was pleased to greet the guest at the Milli Majlis, adding that the high-status visits and meetings played a special role in the advancement of the relations between the two countries. The Speaker said she was certain that the current visit would contribute to the continuing expansion of the bilateral links.
It was remarked then that the visit coincided with the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and North Macedonia. In the years past, Azerbaijan and North Macedonia have built the bilateral bonds resting on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and mutually advantageous co-operation.
Fine prospects as to enhancing the bonds and furthering economic, trading, investment, energy, transport, agricultural and otherwise co-operation were mentioned during the conversation. Those matters had been discussed at a meeting of the two Heads of State.
Having said she was content to be in Azerbaijan, President of the Republic of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova described Azerbaijan as being friendly and close to her country. She also underlined the great importance that North Macedonia attached to furthering the links with Azerbaijan.
The guest then shared the impressions from her meeting with President Ilham Aliyev. Also, she offered her opinions about the prospects for green energy transition, the work that Azerbaijan has done in that area and the relevant substantial inputs from the COP29 conference and the 12th Global Baku Forum.
As the conversation went on, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova stressed that the parliaments’ connexions constituted one of the factors of considerable favourable influence on the bilateral and multilateral relations. It is therefore essential to broaden the interaction of the legislatures further – including under the aegis of international parliamentary entities.
Speaker of the Milli Majlis informed her guest on Azerbaijan’s having liberated her own lands and restored her territorial integrity and sovereignty, the progress of the peace process with Armenia and the role of Azerbaijan in the maintenance of European countries’ energy security.
They also underscored the importance of educational and cultural co-operation, adding that the humanitarian co-operation promoted the strengthening of our countries’ and peoples’ ties considerably. President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova mentioned Azerbaijan’s wealth of cultural heritage.
Other matters of shared interest were talked over as well at the meeting.
