Chair of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Met with Indonesian Ambassador to Azerbaijan
Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to our country Hildi Hamid on 21 April.
Mrs Gafarova greeted the guest and wished him success in his diplomatic tenure in Azerbaijan.
She went on to talk about the friendly relations between our countries and stressed the firmness of the political ties especially, adding that the two countries co-operated successfully in the United Nations Organisation, the Non-Aligned Movement and other international organisations. At the same time, there is the effective interaction in the humanitarian sector, according to Madame Chair.
The parliaments of the two countries play their positive roles in the progress of the mutual relations. The interparliamentary interaction is fruitful bilaterally as well as multilaterally, which is signified by the friendship groups active in both legislatures, Mrs Gafarova remarked before expressing a confidence that the two-way contacts would be intensified after the end of the pandemic.
Whilst telling the guest of the victory of our country in the 44-day Patriotic War, Mrs Gafarova emphasised that Azerbaijan having liberated its lands had also meant enforcement of the relevant resolutions of the UN. Armenia had caused great destruction in the Azerbaijani provinces it had held in occupation for close to 30 years. There had been acts of vandalism. Towns, houses, villages and monuments of history, culture and religion including mosques had been demolished. Now, Armenia is committing another war crime and trampling the international legal principles once again by refusing to let the Azerbaijani side have the minefield maps, Mrs Gafarova said.
Mr Hamid thanked Mrs Gafarova for the warm welcome before voicing his intent to make efforts in furthering the relations between our countries during his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan. The Indonesian diplomatist described Azerbaijan as a country rich in both substantial natural resources and cultural wealth. He witnessed satisfaction with the current level of the bilateral relations and pointed at extensive opportunities to develop the interaction in education, trade, energy, tourism and other areas further.
Mr Hamid mentioned his trip to the de-occupied territories of Azerbaijan and shared his impressions. Azerbaijan, he remarked, was doing a great job restoring and rebuilding those territories as well as building up sustainable peace in the region. Indonesia has always had deep respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, according to Mr Hamid.
There was also an exchange of opinions about other subjects of shared interest during the conversation.
