Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets Delegation of China

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has had a meeting with Wu Hongbo, Head of the Delegation of China’s People’s Institute on Foreign Politics and former Special Representative for European Affairs of the Government of China.
The meeting saw an exchange of opinions about the significance of the forthcoming 12th Baku Global Forum; it was said that the Nizami Ganjavi International Centre had become one of the leading international units working on global problems’ solution. Since its inception day, the Centre has been a platform for discussions about the issues concerning global community and seeking solutions for the current problems on which we are busy working, it was remarked.
According to Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, the co-operation with China is of special importance for our country and has evolved to the extent of strategic partnership. She added that our countries were co-operating successfully in many areas. The mutual support over a broad range of issues that our countries demonstrate was mentioned with contentment as well.
The special role of the Heads of State and of the high-level political dialogue based on mutual confidence in building efficient bonds between our countries were brought up next.
The conversation moved on to the importance of the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the People’s Republic of China then.
Also, the conversation addressed the links between the legislative assemblies of the two countries. They talked about the fruitful collaboration of the two parliaments. The Speaker of the Milli Majlis emphasised that the contacts between and meetings of the parliaments’ representatives served the cause of taking the expansion of the relations further.
Wu Hongbo expressed pleasure at the participation of the 12th Baku Global Forum and broached the high organisational level of the event. He also touched upon Azerbaijan’s having hosted the COP29 successfully and mentioned China’s contribution to that process.
They then turned to the current global geopolitical situation and a number of seriously alarming processes unfolding to the backdrop of the existing challenges; the need for multilateral co-operation was underlined once more.
