The Milli Majlis members Nizami Safarov and Anatoliy Rafailov joined the online tour-de-table ‘The Specificities of Migration Process Regulation in a Pandemic Period in the CIS Member-States’ held on 21 April.

General Secretary of the CIS IPA Council Secretariat Dmitry Kobitsky, Chairman of the St Petersburg Labour and Public Employment Committee Dmitry Cherneyko, Chairman of the CIS IPA Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights Nizami Safarov and Chief of Mission of the International Migration Organisation in Moscow Abdusattor Esoyev spoke at the opening of the round-table session.

Member of the Milli Majlis and Chairman of the CIS IPA Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights Nizami Safarov was saying at the gathering that aligning migration legislation with the current pandemic circumstances was one of the topmost tasks on the agenda in those same circumstances. Therefore, state institutions are to address the issues of upgrading the legal regulation of migration, maintaining security and order in migration and protecting migrants’ rights and liberties in keeping with the international standards, he added.

The pandemic made obvious the need in a global accord on secure, orderly and legitimate migration, Mr Safarov pointed out before underlining the significance of the documents adopted at the 52nd session of the CIS IPA and saying that working remotely as a new form of employment and the matters that went with it had to be stipulated in labour legislation, too.

Next, the tour-de-table participants heard the reports on such topics as ‘The Interaction Experience of Migration and Labour Resource Hubs in the COVID-19 Pandemic Period’, ‘The Development Perspectives of Labour Migration and Social Protection in the Eurasian Integration Expanse’ and ‘Improving the Quality of Labour Migration’. Those and other reports tabled at the gathering were discussed by the participants.

And with that, the tour-de-table ‘The Specificities of Migration Process Regulation in a Pandemic Period in the CIS Member-States’ drew to a close.
