Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova in a Meeting with Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, who is in the town of Khiva in the Republic of Uzbekistan for the First Uzbek-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Forum, has had a meeting with Speaker of the Senate of the Oily Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva.
The meeting saw a high appraisal of the significance of the forum; it was said with confidence that the event would evolve into an effective co-operation mechanism for our parliaments to benefit by. It was also said that the discussions and proposals at the forum would promote a continued deepening of the co-operation between our legislative assemblies.
As the conversation went on, the Speakers voiced the shared satisfaction with the high level of the relations between our countries and peoples, and stressed that those links rested on our common historical, religious and cultural values. The Speakers of Parliament emphasised the roles of the Heads of State in the deepening of our relationship; they said the bilateral relations have attained a new level of development thanks to the firm political will of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. The regular contacts and reciprocal visits of our Heads of State have brought about the continued solidification of the relations; our countries co-operate in various areas successfully now.
They pointed up the fruitful continuation of the high-level relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan on the parliamentary level. Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova recalled with pleasure her previous meetings with the Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, saying that such interactions as well as the contacts of our MPs and Friendship Groups made contributions to the progress of the relations.
Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, too, shared her opinion about the significance of the forum; she described its convention as a sign of the lofty level of relations between our legislatures.
It was stressed that the signing of the Co-operation Agreement between the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as of the roadmaps for the advancement of the inter-parliamentary co-operation came as vivid indications of the importance that the two sides attached to furthering their relations.
The meeting also saw an exchange of views upon other matters of shared interest.
