The Milli Majlis Working Group for interparliamentary contacts Azerbaijan-Mexico had a meeting on 28 April with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Mexican States in our country Juan Rodrigo Labardini Flores.

The Working Group’s Leader Jala Aliyeva spoke at the meeting about the friendship and co-operation between our countries. She pointed out that there had been videoconferences and phone-calls with the Mexican MPs to exchange views on current issues despite the difficulties posed by the pandemic last year.

Juan Rodrigo Labardini Flores recalled the presentations about the economic relations and trade between Mexico and Azerbaijan made at those conference calls. He said that the purpose of today’s meeting, too, was to discuss the prospects of the economic ties and bilateral trade.

Rodrigo Labardini remarked whilst describing the Pacific Alliance in detail that the organisation that Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile established in 2011 is turning ten years in 2021. He made a reference to Azerbaijan having been granted the status of observer in the Alliance. The Mexican ambassador also spoke of the co-operating capabilities of the member-states and put forth a number of relevant proposals. According to the Ambassador, the Alliance members intend to build up versatile relations with Azerbaijan and, especially, broaden the economic ties, intensify agrarian co-operation and trade, and diversify the export and import operations. He also underlined the parliaments’ roles in furthering the co-operation.

A member of the Working Group Tural Ganjaliyev shared his considerations of the meeting topic, too.
