Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Chairman of House of Representatives of Malaysia

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting on 19 September with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Malaysia Tan Sri Dato Johari Bin Abdul.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives greeted the Speaker of the Milli Majlis cordially and voiced appreciation of the attendance of the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation in the 46th AIPA General Assembly. As he put it, such inter-parliamentary platforms afforded excellent opportunities to discuss issues related to bilateral and multilateral co-operation.

Satisfaction was expressed in the conversation with the collaboration of our Parliaments in international organisations, especially, with the joint activities within the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.

Sahiba Gafarova broached the co-operation of the Parliaments of Azerbaijan and Malaysia under the aegis of inter-parliamentary institutions and emphasised the significance of the 46th AIPA General Assembly in this regard.

The co-operation prospects of the Azerbaijani and Malaysian Parliaments were talked over at the meeting; it was remarked that such meetings and negotiations confirm the success of the ties between our legislatures.

As the conversation went on, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis told of the processes afoot in the South Caucasus, the de-occupation of the Azerbaijani territories and the large-scale restoration work conducted in Garabagh and East Zangazur by our Government.

At the same time, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova shared her thoughts as to the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process in light of the latest working trip of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Washington, D.C.

There was also an exchange of views upon other topics of interest to both sides.
