Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Chairwoman of National Assembly of Serbia

The visiting parliamentary delegation led by Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabić came to the Milli Majlis on 24 September.
After their acquaintance with the plenary chamber of the Parliament, the guests went to the Heydar Aliyev Museum in the Milli Majlis; Ana Brnabić signed the Memorial book.
That was followed by the expanded-format meeting of Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabić.
Welcoming the guests, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova pointed up the tremendous role of supreme and high-level reciprocal visits between our countries, which stand in amity and strategic partnership. In this context, the Speaker touched on the significance of the mutual visits and meetings of President Ilham Aliyev and President Aleksandar Vučić, as well as of the documents signed during those visits.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis expressed satisfaction with the successful development of the relationship before highlighting the mutual support and solidarity shown by our countries in international organisations.
Also, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis underlined the benevolent effect of reciprocal visits on the progress of the relations in the realm of inter-parliamentary connexions. Sahiba Gafarova emphasised the role of the sides’ friendship groups in the advancement of the inter-parliamentary ties, voiced contentment with the co-operation in international parliamentary institutions and brought up the opportunities to strike up collaboration amongst parliamentary committees.
Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabić offered congratulations on the development and achievements of our countries which she had witnessed. She proceeded to say that Azerbaijan was a friendly state and ally to Serbia, and that we are proud of our mutual support. She voiced the appreciation of Azerbaijan’s support in the matter of territorial integrity.
As Ana Brnabić said, Azerbaijan is a country protecting her national interests and guarding her values, and, she stressed, Serbia valued that very much.
The Chairwoman of the National Assembly stressed the importance of our countries’ existing economic relations, including those within the energy sector. Having stressed that energy security is an integral part of the national security of any given country, she thanked Azerbaijan for the backing in this area.
As the conversation went on, Ana Brnabić said that as a parliamentary speaker she would continue endeavouring to ensure development of the relations between the two countries’ legislative assemblies.
The meeting also had an exchange of opinions about exchange of experience and other topics of shared interest.
The meeting was followed by the guests familiarising themselves with the Victory Corner created in the foyer of the Milli Majlis and dedicated to the 44-day Patriotic War.
