At the 7th World Conference of IPU Young Parliamentarians

The two-day 7th World Conference of Young Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union began in the videoconferencing mode on 28 April. The Milli Majlis members Kamran Bayramov, Nigyar Arpadarai, Parvin Karimzade and Naghif Hamzayev, too, joined the event entitled ‘Post-COVID-19 Recovery: A Youth-Responsive Approach’.

MP Kamran Bayramov took the floor on the first day of the virtual event to talk about the effects the pandemic is having on the youth, young people’s psychological condition and the benefits of voluntary activities during the pandemic period. He said that he thought comprehensive opinion exchanges amongst young people should be maintained through thematic remote conferences within the IPU frameworks. MP Bayramov also spoke of the importance of drafting and adopting the Guidelines for the protection and enhancement of the youth rights in the pandemic time.

That was followed by the discussions themed ‘Supporting Higher and University Education: a Priority of the Recovery Agenda’.

The young representatives of other national parliaments taking part in the conference outlined their ideas about protecting the youth against the pandemic’s adverse effects and voiced their own remarks and suggestions.

The reports ‘Healthy Youth beyond the Pandemic’ and ‘Economic Empowerment: Transforming the Challenge into an Opportunity’ were heard and deliberated upon at length on the second day of the conference.

With that, the two-day virtual event of young parliamentarians of the IPU was over.
