Speaker of Milli Majlis Meets with Chairman of Human Rights and Equality Organisation of Türkiye

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the delegation led by Chairman of the Human Rights and Equality Organisation of Türkiye Fahrettin Altun on 29 September.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis congratulated the guest on the appointment to this position and wished him success.
It was remarked at the meeting that the relationship between Azerbaijan and Türkiye is founded on the common history, language, religion and national spiritual values of our peoples and that our countries are always side by side, being guided by the ‘One nation, two states’ slogan of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev. It was stressed, too, that the inter-state relations have reached the level of alliance today thanks to the fraternal relations of our Heads of State – the relations based on mutual respect and trust.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova remarked during the conversation that there are extensive links between the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Great National Assembly of Türkiye as well, and that our parliaments co-operate successfully both bilaterally and in international parliamentary organisations.
They also paid attention to the existing close collaboration between the Ombudsman and the Milli Majlis at the meeting. Also, the close co-operation between the Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan and the Human Rights and Equality Organisation of Türkiye was evaluated as a laudable circumstance.
Chairman of the Human Rights and Equality Organisation of Türkiye Fahrettin Altun spoke with contentment of the successes achieved by Azerbaijan, of her having restored her territorial integrity and sovereignty. He said that the double standards commanding the modern world motivate us to strengthen our co-operation on the international level further as well as to build up our joint action against such phenomena.
The importance of international co-operation in human rights was emphasised at the meeting; they also underlined the considerable relevant roles of the legislative assemblies.
