As we have reported, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova is visiting in Pakistan in order to participate in the Third Trilateral Meeting of the Speakers of Parliament Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Türkiye.

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, Chairman of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and the Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmuş met with the Chief Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province, Maryam Nawaz Sharif in the city of Lahore on 14 October.

The relations between our countries and the expansion of the parliamentary co-operation were discussed at the meeting. It was remarked that the cultural, religious and spiritual affinity of our peoples forms the foundation of the friendly and brotherly ties between our countries. As was also emphasised, the close political contacts and friendly relations between the Heads of State have a strong influence on the development of ties in all spheres and bring our peoples and states even closer together.

The conversation high-lit the importance of the trilateral meeting of the Speakers of Parliaments of Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Turkey held in Islamabad and the issues discussed there. It was said that this mechanism of trilateral co-operation between the Speakers of Parliament, the meetings held, mutual visits, as well as the joint activity of our deputies in influential international parliamentary organisations and their adoption of a common position on fundamental issues, contribute to the strengthening of relations of friendship and strategic partnership between our countries also at the parliamentary level.

An exchange of views also took place at the meeting regarding the prospects for the development of our bilateral and trilateral co-operation and other matters of common interest.
