Members of Azerbaijan’s Parliamentary Delegation Spoke at 151st Assembly Discussions

As reported earlier, the delegation led by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova visited the city of Geneva of the Swiss Confederation to take part in the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation members took part in the discussions in the format of the 151st Assembly and spoke up at them.

Namely, the delegation members MP Sevil Mikayilova spoke at the meetings of the Executive Committee and Bureau of Women Parliamentarians whereas MP Amina Agazade spoke at the meetings of the Organisation’s Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights as well as at the general debates.

Member of the Milli Majlis Kamran Bayramov spoke at the meetings of the IPU Standing Committee on Peace and International Security and the Standing Committee on United Nations Affairs as well as at the general debates.

The members of the parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan voiced various opinions and proposals concerning the tabled issues and future activities of the Organisation in their speeches.

Besides, all the three delegation members took part in the Meeting of the Eurasian Group.

Member of the Milli Majlis Rizvan Nabiyev attended the Co-ordination Meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, which was held within the frameworks of the Assembly.

It should be mentioned that a scheduled session of the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments of the Organisation’s Member States was also held within the framework of the 151st Assembly. Chief of the Milli Majlis Staff Farid Hajiyev delivered a speech at the event, telling about the work carried out in the Milli Majlis in the digital transformation area, the modern information technologies being applied and the corresponding results achieved.

Also in the format of the Assembly was signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation and the Milli Majlis as to holding the 20th session of the Organisation in Baku in 2026. The document was signed by the Organisation’s Secretary General Mohamed Khouraichi Niass and Chief of the Milli Majlis Staff Farid Hajiyev.
