Leader of the Milli Majlis Delegation to the OSCE PA, OSCE PA Vice President and Chairman of the OSCE PA Silk Way Support Group Azay Guliyev met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Serjan Abdikarimov on 6 May.

First, Mr Abdikarimov congratulated all the Azerbaijanis on the victory won in the 44-day Patriotic War and said that Kazakhstan always supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Then, Mr Abdikarimov touched on the common values of our countries established in the course of history and voiced Kazakhstan’s desire to expand versatile co-operation with Azerbaijan, nowadays a regional leader. He also stressed the great importance attached to the interparliamentary ties and noted that his country always supported Azerbaijan’s stances, be it in the OSCE PA or in the other international associations.

Azay Guliyev, too, brought up the subject of co-operation between the Azerbaijani and Kazakh parliamentary delegations in the OSCE PA and in other international organisations before touching on the global projects under way in our region. Mr Guliyev updated Mr Abdikarimov on the demining work in progress in the liberated territories and said that international organisations should to put pressure on Armenia to make it deliver minefield maps to Azerbaijan.

The Kazakh ambassador recalled how he had been shocked by what he had seen in the liberated territories, adding that the Armenians had been truly vandalising those lands. Armenia’s disinclination to release the minefield maps is a war crime, in the opinion of Mr Abdikarimov.

There was then an exchange of opinions about co-operation development, bilateral as well as in such multilateral arenas as the TurkPA, the Turkic Council, TURKSOY and TRACECA as well as various interparliamentary assemblies and other entities.
