At the Meeting of the Defence, Security and Counter-Corruption Committee

The Milli Majlis Committee for Defence, Security and Counter-Corruption held a remote meeting to look at three Bills on 7 May.

Committee Chairman Ziyafet Asgarov remarked whilst he was briefing the assembled on the Bills that the first agenda item referred to a document containing changes in the Law ‘On the State Border of the Azerbaijan Republic’ that would improve and make more exacting the regulation of the public relations that the law embraced. As for the Bill with proposed modifications in the Labour and Tax Codes of the Azerbaijan Republic, they were about concessions and privileges for the persons holding the Patriotic War Hero rank.

And the third item on the agenda had to do with the draft amendments to the Garrison and Guard Service Charter of the Armed Forces of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Internal Service Charter of the Armed Forces of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Military Service Charter, and to the laws ‘On Perpetuating the Memory of Those Fallen for the Motherland’, ‘On Protecting the Historic and Cultural Heritage Objects’, ‘On the Youth Policy’ and ‘On the Rules of Using the National Anthem of the Azerbaijan Republic’. This Bill adds those awarded the Patriotic War Hero title and decorated with the ‘Victory’ and ‘Garabagh’ orders to the ranks of the people with military merit decorations. Besides, the Bill sets the perpetuation and protecting of the memory of the Patriotic War heroes.

It was recommended that all the three matters be tabled for consideration at a plenum of the Milli Majlis.

Deputy Committee Chairman Hikmat Mammadov and members of the Committee Aghil Abbas, Amina Agazade, Kamal Jafarov, Ogtay Asadov, Nurlan Hasanov, Erkin Gadirli, Elman Mammadov, Elshad Mirbashiroglu, Aydin Mirzazade, Arzu Naghiyev, Bakhtiyar Sadigov and Nizami Safarov were taking part in the virtual meeting, too.
