Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets Ambassador of Greece to Our Country

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to our country Maria K. Papakonstantinou.

Congratulating the Ambassador on the start of her diplomatic tenure in our country, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova wished her success in her work.

The multifaceted co-operation between our countries was mentioned at the meeting; the exceptional role of political dialogue and of high-level visits and meetings in the development of the relations was emphasised as well.

The inter-parliamentary relations were also reviewed during the conversation. It was said that the mutual links in this field constituted an important vector of our countries’ bilateral and multilateral relations. The significance of reciprocal visits including the strengthening of the activities of the friendship groups for the deepening of the bonds between the legislative bodies was high-lit in this connexion. Also, they spoke of the importance of co-operation in inter-parliamentary organisations, too, adding that the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Co-operation offered sound opportunities in that regard.

Maria K. Papakonstantinou said at the meeting she felt privileged to have been appointed as Ambassador to our country and declared her intention to contribute to the continued deepening of the relations between our countries during her mission.

The meeting also saw an exchange of opinions about other matters of joint interest.
