Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Ralf Horlemann to our country who is completing his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan.

The processes having unfolded in the context of the progress of the relations between Azerbaijan and Germany during the tenure of the diplomat in Azerbaijan were reviewed at the meeting. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova underlined the considerable role in the development of the relations played by the visits of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Germany and the visit to our country of the President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Issues related to the economic, trade and otherwise co-operation between our countries were broached as well.

Besides, attention was paid in the course of the conversation to the relations between the legislative bodies. The Speaker of the Milli Majlis recalled her official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany as well as reciprocal trips between the parliamentary friendship groups.

Ambassador Ralf Horlemann praised highly the attitude to German heritage in Azerbaijan and pointed it up as a sign of tolerance. He observed that during his tenure he had been able to become acquainted with our country more closely, and proceeded to share his favourable impressions.

Also, the Ambassador touched upon the advances achieved recently in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, stressing that progress in that direction brings peace and stability to the region.

The meeting also had an exchange of opinions as to other matters of shared interest.
