Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has received the newly-appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to our country Berlian Helmy.

Contentment was expressed during the meeting with the development of the relations between our countries, and it was stressed that there are opportunities to continue strengthening political, economic, investment and otherwise co-operation further.

The fruitful co-operation organised between our countries in such remarkable international organisations as the United Nations Organisation, the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation and the Non-Aligned Movement was brought up in the conversation. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova talked of Indonesia’s active engagement in the work of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network established at the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Furthermore, there was an exchange of views upon the continued development of the ties between our Parliaments. It was remarked in this context that the work done by the Friendship Groups in both countries’ Parliaments as well as reciprocal visits and intensive contacts amongst our MPs serve to further the continuing expansion of our relations.  

Ambassador Berlian Helmy, too, emphasised the role of the Parliaments in broadening the relations between our countries further and said that he will try to contribute to the development of co-operation between the legislative bodies alongside the other areas during his tenure.

The meeting also saw an exchange of opinions regarding other matters of joint interest.
