Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova meets with Chairman of Global Council for Tolerance and Peace

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met on 22 June with Chairman of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace Ahmad Muhammad Al-Jarwan who had arrived in our country for the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States.

The great importance of the Parliamentary Union in a continued deepening of the relations between the Muslim countries and their legislative bodies was brought up at the meeting. Confidence was expressed in the successful conduct of the Organisation’s 20th Session in Baku. At the same time, it was emphasised that this event would contribute productively to future activities of the Parliamentary Union.

The conversation had an exchange of opinions about the Azerbaijani Parliament’s co-operation with the International Parliament for Peace, the parliamentary dimension of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace. It was observed that the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Milli Majlis and the International Parliament for Peace provided favourable opportunities to continue expanding the relations between the sides.

There was also an exchange of views upon other matters of joint interest.
