Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova meets with First Deputy Speaker of Federal National Council of United Arab Emirates
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with Tariq Al Tayer, First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates who had come to our country for the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States.
Contentment was expressed at the meeting with the current high level of relations between our friendly and brotherly countries. The important role of the leaders of our countries in broadening our relations as well as reciprocal visits including President Ilham Aliyev’s visit and his being honoured with the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity in February this year were emphasised with satisfaction. It was said that our countries reach outstanding successes today thanks to their leaders’ wisdom and far-sightedness as well as the boundless support their peoples give them.
Our countries’ close political, economic, humanitarian and otherwise co-operation was pointed out as well. Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates also co-operate closely in international organisations and give each other mutual support in the formats of the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
It was observed during the conversation that the Parliaments play their special roles in the progress of the bilateral relations as well and that the Speakers’ and MPs’ close contacts and regular meetings provide for continued development of those links. Attention was paid to the legislative bodies’ co-operation – bilateral as well as in international parliamentary organisations.
It was emphasised that our Parliaments co-operate actively in such organisations as the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network established on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as well as in the APA and the PUIC.
As they exchanged opinions about the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States, a confidence was expressed that the event would be conducted to high standards.
