Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova meets with Speaker of Consultative Council of Republic of the Niger

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met on 23 June with Speaker of the Consultative Council of the Republic of the Niger Mamadou Harouna Djingarey who is visiting in our country for the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States.
There was an exchange of views at the meeting about co-operation opportunities for our countries and Parliaments.
The co-operation between the legislative bodies of our countries in international parliamentary organisations was remarked on during the conversation. They stressed the significance of mutual support in such organisations as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network and the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova informed the guest on the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network established on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in 2021. It was emphasised that the Parliamentary Network had covered a massive development path in terms of institutional strengthening and growing international weight in the 5 years past.
Mamoudou Harouna Djingarey thanked for the high hospitality and shared favourable impressions about the development of Azerbaijan and its capital of Baku. The guest praised the successes our country had achieved and observed that many countries could not in even decades attain the successes that Azerbaijan secured over the past years. The Speaker of the Consultative Council said that Niger was interested in deepening the relations with Azerbaijan and the Milli Majlis. He said they wanted to benefit from our country’s experience in many fields including in efficient use of energy resources.
The guest also commented on the inter-parliamentary co-operation and voiced the intention to continue active involvement in the work of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.
The meeting had an exchange about other matters of shared interest.
