Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova meets with Speaker of Consultative Assembly of Sultanate of Oman

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met on 24 June with Speaker of the Consultative Assembly of the Sultanate of Oman Khalid Hilal Al-Maawali who is visiting in our country for the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States.

It was remarked during the conversation that the interrelation between the Parliaments contributes to the bilateral and multilateral relationship of our countries. Our legislative bodies’ joint work in international parliamentary organisations was mentioned at the meeting. They also emphasised the importance of mutual support amongst the Member States of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in such organisations as the Parliamentary Union. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova expressed satisfaction with Oman’s active participation in the work of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network established at the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Speaker of the Consultative Assembly of Oman Khalid Hilal Nasir Al-Maawali expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended at a high level, thanked Azerbaijan for the high organisational level of the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States and spoke of the importance of the matters discussed in the frameworks of this event. The guest stated his country’s being interested in furthering the relations with Azerbaijan and the presence of sound opportunities to develop co-operation in many areas.

The meeting also had an exchange of opinions about other matters of shared interest.
