Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova meets with Speaker of Majlis of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with Speaker of the Majlis of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Ziya Öztürkler who is visiting in our country to participate in the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States taking place in Baku.

It was said at the meeting that the Parliamentary Union is a beneficial platform for the continued deepening of the relations amongst the Member States’ legislative bodies and for discussion of a number of serious matters. It was mentioned also that the Milli Majlis had organised the Conference to high standards.

The parties exchanged views on the relations between our Parliaments. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova recalled fondly her previous meeting with the guest. She remarked that the existing contacts between the Speakers and Members of Parliament as well as reciprocal visits and meetings serve the continued deepening of the ties. The significance of the co-operation and joint activities of the Parliaments’ friendship groups was underlined, too. Holding tripartite-format meetings of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Türkiye and the Majlis of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was described as a commendable step.

The constant support of the Republic of Azerbaijan led by President Ilham Aliyev to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was lauded as the conversation continued. The Speaker of the Mejlis of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus expressed the gratitude for the support given by our country.

The meeting also had an exchange of opinions about other matters of shared interest.
