Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova meets with Deputy Speakers of Parliament of African Group
Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with Sanha Fodé Karamba, First Vice-President of the Transitional National Council of Guinea-Bissau, Haoua Fofana, Second Vice-President of the People’s Legislative Assembly of Burkina Faso, Mbank Hadji Woli, Vice-President of the Senate of Chad, Sarra Sako Nee Fadika, Vice-President of the Senate of Côte d’Ivoire and Mohamed Ousmane Ag Mohamedoun, Vice-President of the Transitional National Council of Mali who are in Baku for the 20 Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States.
The organisation and hosting by the Milli Majlis of the 20 Session of the PUIC Conference to high standards and the discussion of important issues here were mentioned at the meeting. The address of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to the Conference participants and the crucial messages contained in that address were praised especially highly. It was said that this was a bright example of the significance that Azerbaijan attaches to the Islam values and to strengthening co-operation and solidarity amongst Muslim countries.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova provided extensive information about the atmosphere of multiculturalism and tolerance that exists in Azerbaijan. Also, she made the guests aware of the successful outcomes of the state policy of care and development of the Islamic values that is implemented in our country.
The important role of Parliaments in deepening the ties amongst countries and peoples was emphasised at the meeting. They also reviewed the current condition of the ties between the legislative bodies and the opportunities to expand the co-operation. A special emphasis was put on the significance of furthering the development of co-operation between the Parliaments the guests represented and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan in international parliamentary organisations including the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network and the PUIC.
The guests congratulated the Speaker of the Milli Majlis on the high-standard organisation of the 20 Session of the PUIC Conference and shared favourable impressions about the progress and hospitality they had witnessed in Azerbaijan and the capital city of Baku.
There was also an exchange of opinions concerning other matters of interest to the parties at the meeting.
