A videoconference meeting was held between Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova and the President of Pan-African Parliament Fateh Boutbig on 13 July.

Expansion of interparliamentary co‑operation as well as development of the ties between the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and the Pan-African Parliament were discussed at the meeting. It was emphasised during the conversation that such contacts make an important contribution to strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and developing co‑operation between the sides further.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova touched upon the activities of the Pan-African Parliament and expressed the Azerbaijani Parliament's intention to develop relations with this Organisation. The prospects for co‑operation between the Pan-African Parliament and the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, established on the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan, were also reviewed during the meeting.

The MPs are elected as based on the majority electoral system by free, private and confidential vote reliant on the general, equitable and immediate suffrage. The tenure of a Milli Majlis convocation is 5 years.
