The official visit of Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia continues. As part of the visit, the parliamentary delegation called at the MESOB State Services Centre in the capital of Addis Ababa on 29 July.

There, the guests were informed that MESOB, modelled after the Azerbaijani brand of ASAN Service, is a modern one-stop platform created to facilitate citizens’ access to important public services. Uniting more than 140 services provided by federal agencies within one digital and physical centre, MESOB ensures that public services are rendered in a faster, more comfortable and more reliable manner.

It should be mentioned that the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the relevant body of Ethiopia signed a Memorandum of Understanding in May 2024 which envisaged implementation of the ASAN Service experience in Ethiopia. Issues concerned with the pertaining co-operation were also discussed at the meeting of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Ethiopia Taye Atske Selassie on the margins of COP29. The necessary organisational, legal and technical steps have been taken with Azerbaijan’s support in the elapsed period to implement the ASAN Service experience in Ethiopia.

The national administration indicated during the meetings held by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova in Ethiopia that this model is being implemented in the provinces of Ethiopia as well already, thanks to which the efficiency of public services and their provision has been increased greatly.

Also during the visit the delegation acquainted themselves with the National Palace Museum Complex. The guests were told that the Complex is one of the important historical and cultural landmarks reflecting the history of Ethiopian statehood, the legacy of the monarchic period and the cultural values of the country.

Besides, the delegation visited the National History Museum Complex. There, the guests were introduced to the exhibits relaying the history of Ethiopia.
