Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on 1 September in the course of her working visit to the Republic of Serbia.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud recalled with contentment his visit to Azerbaijan and meeting with President Ilham Aliyev before underscoring the importance of the negotiations held and documents signed during that visit. The Somalian President expressed satisfaction with another meeting with the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and shared thoughts about the progress of the two countries’ relations.

The significance of the inter-parliamentary connections as a dramatic vector of the inter-state relations was emphasised during the conversation. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova said that the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan is prepared to continue the relations with the Parliament of Somalia henceforth.

The importance of co-operation, bilaterally and international organisations alike, was stressed at the meeting. Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova voiced her thoughts about the work done by the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.

There was at the meeting also a discussion of the issues pertaining to the growth prospects of the relations between Azerbaijan and Somalia, inter-parliamentary co-operation and other topics of shared interest.
