Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met in NYC with the President of the 81^st Session of the UN General Assembly Khalilur Rahman as part of her working visit to the USA.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis congratulated the vis-à-vis on the start of his work in this elevated position and wished him success.

They relations between Azerbaijan and the UN were reviewed at the meeting; they also discussed Azerbaijan’s contribution to the UN activities and the work done by the country, and underlined the role of the Azerbaijani Parliament and of the parliamentary diplomacy pursued by it in the progress of multilateralism. Speaker Sahiba Gafarova informed the President of the 81^st Session of the UN General Assembly of the workings of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network.

Opinions were shared during the conversation as to development of the relations between the UN and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

There was also an exchange of opinions about other matters at the meeting.
