Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) Ramil Hasanov on 15 September.

They exchanged opinions regarding the role of the TURKPA in the continuing development of the co-operation amongst the Turkic states, the organisation’s significance in the light of the discussion of matters of interest to Turkic-speaking countries and the importance of the support the organisation receives from the leaders of its Member States.

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova shared her ideas about the work done within the TURKPA during the Azerbaijani chairmanship in it and about also expanding its ties with international parliamentary organisations including the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary network.

It was remarked during the conversation that the Milli Majlis attaches great significance to furthering the co-operation with the TURKPA and the Parliaments of the organisation’s brotherly Member States.

The preparations for the organisation’s plenary sitting due in the city of Bishkek of the Kyrgyz Republic next month, the matters intended for discussion at the event and perspective plans were reviewed at the meeting.
