The Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development of the Asian Parliamentary Committee had a videoconferenced meeting on 20 May.

A Milli Majlis Committee Chair and Leader of the Azerbaijan Delegation to the APA Ganira Pashayeva joined that meeting, too.

There were the speeches by the said Standing Committee Chair and the APA General Secretary about the APA activities. Those were followed by deliberations upon a number of draft resolutions concerned with creating the Asian energy market, ensuring economic growth, eliminating poverty, the roles of the APA member-parliaments in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the Asian Financial Initiative and other matters. Appropriate decisions were passed.

As the draft resolution ‘Water and Sanitation for All in Asia’ was tabled, the Turkish side proposed – and the leader of the Azerbaijani delegation backed the proposal – that that particular issue be considered at the next meeting. The motion was seconded.

Then were heard the reports by the working groups on green finance, integration of the Asian Energy Market and the water crisis.

The parliamentarians attending the meeting discussed the items on the agenda. Their voiced their respective opinions, put forth proposals and shared ideas about making the APA more efficient, about the regional states’ co-operation prospects in various areas and about other things.

With that, the online meeting of the APA Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development meeting was over.
