A Meeting with Afghani Diplomats at Milli Majlis

There was a meeting at the Milli Majlis on 10 June with the diplomats of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan studying at the ADA (Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy) University.

The leader of the Milli Majlis Working Group for interparliamentary connexions with Afghanistan Musa Gasimli who welcomed the guests went on to speak about the interaction between the two countries’ legislatures and thanked the Afghani state, parliament and people for their backing to the just cause of Azerbaijan in the period of the Patriotic War that had lasted for 44 days.

Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis Committee for International Relation and Interparliamentary Connexions Sevinj Fataliyeva said that the wresting of our lands from the 30 years’ Armenian captivity had created a situation favourable of establishing lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus. She also brought up the new realia created in the region and recounted the current restoration projects afoot in the de-occupied provinces of the country.

Asim Mollazade of the same parliamentary committee briefed the young Afghani diplomats on the history, culture and traditions of parliamentarism of Azerbaijan, the emergence of the first parliament in the East nowhere else but in Azerbaijan, also, on the political system of the country and the pillars of the independent Azerbaijani state, on the importance of the victory gained under Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev’s leadership in 2020 for the whole region and other key matters.

The members of the Milli Majlis witnessed their pleasure with that the tuition programme of the ADA University allowed young diplomats of various countries to acquaint themselves with Azerbaijan and mentioned the Milli Majlis-ADA interaction in the implementation of the programme. The Azerbaijani MPs also touched on the prospects of the Azerbaijani-Afghani co-operation, the historical ties uniting our nations and the importance of making those ties yet stronger. The representatives of the Azerbaijani parliament answered the young Afghani diplomats’ questions, wished them success in their future work and gave them a number of recommendations.

The Ambassador of Afghanistan to Azerbaijan Amanullah Jaihoon and other officials were taking part in the meeting.
