Deputy Chair of the Milli Majlis and Leader of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Working Group Adil Aliyev referred to the personal friendship ties between the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the first president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev as he spoke at the online meeting of the inter-parliamentary friendship groups of the two countries held on 14 June. That friendship had had a tremendous input in the progress of the Azerbaijani-Kazakh bonds, Mr Aliyev pointed out.

Saying that he had helmed the Working Group for the inter-parliamentary connexions Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan since 2015, Mr Aliyev underlined the significance of reciprocal visits for the experience exchange and for co-operation in the international organisations alike. He congratulated the Kazakh side on the recently-concluded parliamentary election and wished the MPs success in their work.

Then, Adil Aliyev said that the 10th of November 2020 was to remain in Azerbaijan’s memory as the V-Day – the day of the victory that had ended the aggression having lasted for almost thirty year and seen Azerbaijan enforce the four well-known resolutions of the UN Security Council.

The war is over; and yet, Armenia continues committing humanitarian crimes and refusing to grant access to all the minefield maps. Not only military personnel but also civilians get killed in the explosions in those same minefields as a result. Incidentally, two of our journalists who had gone down to Kalbajar to make a programme there had fallen prey to one of such mines quite recently, Mr Aliyev mentioned.

Deputy Chair of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Leader of the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Balaim Kesebaeva mentioned the great importance her country has always attached to furthering the relations with Azerbaijan. Mrs Kesebaeva also voiced her opinions about deepening the inter-parliamentary connexions and developing the co-operation in the international parliamentary institutions.

There was an exchange of views on other topics of shared interest during the conversation, too.

Members of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Inter-Parliamentary Relations Working Group, the Milli Majlis deputies Etibar Aliyev, Ulviya Agayeva, Anar Mammadov, Eldaniz Salimov and Naghif Hamzayev as well as a group of Kazakh MPs were taking part in the meeting as well.
